NGV Industry Members Feature Prominently in Award Recipients
CSA America, Inc., a developer of standards and codes in the US, has announced the recipients of its 2007 Awards for Outstanding Achievement. This is the first year for the CSA America Awards, which were presented to individuals, teams, divisions and corporations for exceptional service and achievement in the area of standards development.
The honors were awarded by Spencer Grieco, Vice President, Standards, CSA America at a special gala during the CSA America Annual Conference in Cleveland. "The inaugural CSA America Awards for Outstanding Achievement are presented in recognition of the immeasurable contributions made toward the development and promotion of standards," says Mr. Grieco, "The recipients in each category are owed an enormous debt of gratitude for their selfless efforts. Without their extensive knowledge, hard work, and devotion to standards development, many of the standards that impact our daily lives, contribute to the betterment of society, and advance our community well being would not exist."
Corporate Awards of Merit were presented to a number of organizations for outstanding achievement by a participating company or organization based on a high level of involvement in CSA America standards programs. Included in these were Lincoln Composites, Inc. Lincoln, NE, a steadfast supporter of CSA America standards development activities for many years, receives the CSA America Corporate Award of Merit providing outstanding expertise to the PRD/HRPD1, NGV/HGV2, NGV/HGV 3.1 Technical Committees. Lincoln's representatives have been extremely active and diligent members of the TCs, compiling and examining the texts of draft standards, and providing data to validate propose testing methods. Throughout, the company has advanced CSA America standards globally by promoting harmonization of requirements.
Among the individual award recipients were Dr. Denny Stephens of Columbus, OH who received the Award of Distinction in recognition of exceptional leadership, technical expertise, persistence and commitment for more than 17 years of service to the development and advancement of standards for Natural Gas and Hydrogen Vehicle Fuel Containers. Dr. Stephens is a Mechanical Engineer with more than 25 years of experience leading research and development programs at Battelle in Columbus, Ohio, where he is currently Manager of the Heavy Vehicle Technology Group.
CSA America Division Medal awards were also presented to the groups for outstanding work by a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) or Technical Committee (TC) in protecting consumer safety through the advancement of safety technology or practices consistent with sound engineering. The HPRD1 Technical Advisory Group received the CSA America Divisional Medal award for leadership and commitment to the development of standards for hydrogen components, resulting in one of the first hydrogen component standards. Participants worked nationally and internationally to develop new standards for pressure relief devices; a primary safety component for compressed hydrogen vehicle fueling systems that have unique fire safety and durability requirements.
CSA America Service Awards were also presented to 37 individuals in appreciation for commitment to CSA America programs as active members of one or more Technical Advisory Groups or Technical Committees for at least five years and with an 80 per cent participation level.
