Daimler in the United States will replace its new natural gas-fueled Class 8 truck from Sterling with a compressed natural gas-fueled truck based on the Freightliner M2 112 chassis. “The Sterling brand is going to go away but Freightliner is going to fast track the natural gas product on the M2 112 chassis,” Sterling’s western regional GM Bob Carrick told Fleets & Fuels last week. “I’m pushing very very hard so we don’t lose the momentum we have with natural gas,” he says. Daimler product marketing GM Mike Jackson said at this month’s Southern California Clean Vehicle Technology Expo that the new Freightliner will initially be fueled with CNG. The LNG Sterling will be available through the first quarter of 2009 and will be fully supported for at least a decade. More information Fleets and Fuels.

USA, Oklahoma City
Chesapeake Energy Corporation, the USA's largest natural gas producer and most active driller, has initiated a public education campaign called CNG NOW designed to promote the greater usage of America's clean-burning natural gas as a transportation fuel. CNG NOW is an initiative that sets forth a plan to 'rescue America from decades of dangerous reliance on imported foreign oil' and complements the transportation portion of the Pickens Plan announced by T. Boone Pickens earlier this summer.

IANGV/NGV GLOBAL ADVERTISER
LNG Equipment manufacturer Cryostar has launched a new 'Subtran' 2-stage LNG submerged centrifugal pump for liquid transfer, LNG stations and micro-bulk delivery. The main advantage of this new pump is that it can be easily installed in all existing piping systems for semi-trailer or stationary use, without modification of the installation. Its robust design prevents high vibrations giving an extended bearing lifetime.
It is hermetically encapsulated thus no shaft seal is needed.

Greenlane Biogas is a Flotech Group Company known as the world leader for biogas upgrading solutions.
Greenlane focuses on design and development, allowing rapid response to market and technical trends. The latest generation water scrubbing technology upgrades organic material to pure methane for vehicle refuelling or for use as pipeline quality gas: Greenlane® systems use a Ro-Flo vane type compressor to supply a packed column scrubber with raw gas, which removes unwanted components. This is followed by a patented adsorber process, providing pure and bone dry gas as end product. Unlike fossil fuels which are in limited supply, biogas is extracted via processes that have previously consumed carbon dioxide, resulting in a naturally balanced cycle.

NEW ZEALAND
As CNG progresses towards mainstream acceptance, the industry is focusing closely on the reliability and performance of the NGV driver’s interface with methane – the filling station forecourt. CNG station up-time is a constant issue, and as new NGV users have made a significant investment in the fuel, there is some urgency for producing products that assist in increasing this up-time.

CSA America - Certifying CNG Cylinder Inspectors
CSA America is the only nationally recognized organization
certifying CNG cylinder inspectors in the U.S. and Canada. The CSA America CNG
Certification program is designed to certify that an individual possesses the
body of knowledge recommended by the NGV 2 Standard for CNG Cylinder
Containers.
CNG Certification offers the consistent assessment of an
individual's proficiency in the area of CNG cylinder inspection, and provides
formal recognition of his or her knowledge and understanding. The program helps
to reinforce the need for candidates to be adequately trained and then tested
to levels of competence set by a committee of acknowledged experts. Procedures
are also in place to periodically re-assess certified inspectors to ensure they
remain up to date on technical developments and industry changes.
For more information visit our Web site at www.csa-america.org or call us at
216-524-4990 or 1-877-235-9791. CSA America, 8501 E. Pleasant Valley Road,

Large LCNG refuelling Station: CRYOSTAR HPP
When large quantities of CNG are needed, Cryostar says LCNG refuelling remains the best economical solution. In order to cope with this demand, Cryostar introduces their new HPP pump. This pump is able to supply up to 5 000 Nm3/h at more than 300 bar for a consumption of 160 kW while compressors can requires more than 1000 kW.
Moreover HPP integrates latest technical developments providing high reliability and optimised maintenance cost for minimum down time. Through a complete range of LCNG stations (from 80 to 5000 Nm3/h and more), Cryostar provides the right solution for liquid and gas refuelling.
LCNG vs CNG power consumption
LNG requires less power to be pressurized than CNG, due to the fact that LNG takes 630 times less space than CNG at 1 bar and 15°. This means that to pressurize 1 Nm3 of LNG, at 200 bar, a pump will need 1587 cm3 while a compressor will need 5000 cm3 to achieve the same flow.
