Germany's first biomethane refuelling station has been recognized with an "Innovation Award for environmentally friendly mobility" from ASUE (Association of Economical and Environmentally Friendly Energy Consumption). The award includes a 10,000 Euro endowment for the WEGAS (Wendländer Biogas) station which was first commissioned in 2006 and derives biomethane from various renewable resources such as maize and grass silage, rye seeds and manure. WEGAS are planning a second station in 2009 in Danneberg. See erdgas-fahren.de for more information (in German).
