Brazil, Rio de Janeiro
It was a full house earlier this week for the IANGV Technical Committee meeting, held at IBP headquarters here in Rio. The meeting was given an update on the status of a project by the IANGV to revise the database of current standards relating to natural gas vehicles and their use.
In parallel with this, an NGV technical standards bulletin is to be set up, providing regular standards updates and requests for input by email. A subscription function for the new standards bulletin will be online
by the end of the week. www.iangv.org .
The panel also heard from the Canadian NGV Alliance, which will be releasing a report within the next month outlining the benefits of NGVs relative to gasoline vehicles. Addressing Global Warming Potential (GWP) and taking into account CO2 and N2O and CH4 emissions, the report paints a compelling and favorable picture. Keep an eye on
www.ngvglobal.com for an update when this is released.
Other issues covered included standards harmonization, NGV incident reporting, cylinder handling guidelines, and the impact of hydrogen blends on steel cylinders. A full report of the meeting will be presented at the IANGV Council meeting this Friday.
