The role of the earlier European Natural Gas Vehicle Association (ENGVA), based in the Netherlands, has from the start of 2008 been taken over by the new NGVA Europe, based in Spain. Many of the previous ENGVA members are now joining the new Association, but also other new members. Although we have been active already since the start of 2008, the official registration of the new Association, and its bylaws, could not be completed until late April 2008.
The Board of Directors presently includes the following persons: Anders
Mathiasson from the Swedish Gas Association, Enrique Garcia Poggio from
Gas Natural, Spain, Hans Wach (Secretary) from Gasmobil AG,
Switzerland, Ivan Dordolo from ENI, Italy, Maurizio Pastine from Fiat,
Italy, Pablo Cebria from Iveco, Spain, Peter Boisen (Chairman) from
Sweden, Robert Hastings from Swagelok, UK, and Trevor Fletcher (Vice
Chairman) from the Hardstaff Group, UK.
Manuel Lage from Iveco, Spain, is the General Manager of NGVA Europe,
and from April 1 supported by Matthias Maedge, Manager for Marketing
& Membership Services. Secretarial support is offered via
Guadeloupe Lastras. For general questions concerning membership and
association activities - please contact Matthias Maedge (tel. +34-913

Part of the committee work will be conducted in smaller ad hoc
committees addressing particular issues, and requiring special
expertise.
NGVA Europe will focus on lobbying activities and will thus take an
active part in the deliberations e.g. concerning ISO/CEN standards,
Global Technical Regulations, various other regulatory issues brought
up at the meetings of UNECE GRPE (Global Regulations on Pollution and
Energy) and its subcommittees, also in the MVEG (Motor Vehicle
Emissions Group). We will follow the development of new political
initiatives in Brussels and Strasbourg, and work with the ambition of
presenting a European NGV industry consensus opinion to concerned
Commission staff, as well as EP committees and individual members. It
is our ambition to prepare well defined position papers on all various
issues expected to be under debate. We will also seek to establish good
relations with national European NGV associations, and other European
(e.g. Eurogas and Marcogaz) and International Associations (e.g. the
IGU and IANGV) working in support of the use of natural gas and
biomethane. We will also support the development of accurate and
regular statistical reports, and in this regard share our information
with other parties, such as the IANGV and the NGV Communications Group.
We plan to hold a General Meeting in Turin on September 24 (the day
before the start of the II World Fair of NGV, Biogas and H2V) and then
present a more detailed action plan and budget, including provisions
for a lobbying office in Brussels. We will also to the extent possible
take part in major alternative fuel conferences, presenting the views
of the Association.
Finally, it is our ambition that NGVA Europe should be a strong and
unified voice speaking on behalf of the European NGV interests. We will
be happy to cooperate with non European Associations, but we reserve
the right to define the policies which we feel are optimal for the
European region.
