The Asia-Pacific Natural Gas Vehicles Association (ANGVA) successfully held its 6th NGV School at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, on Thursday March 15. About 200 attendees from NGV related industries and public offices took part in making the school a success. The program was jointly hosted by ANGVA and TANGV (Thailand Association of Natural Gas Vehicle).
The one-day program was opened with opening remarks by the Dean of the NGV School, Dr. Sung Joon Kim and Dr. Nontarwat Junjareon, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, followed by congratulatory addresses by TANGV President, Mr. Chitrapongse Kwangsukstith and Gangwon Province Director of Environmental Policy, Mr. Teak Chun Joun.
Deputy Director, Mr. Kwang-chil Park from Korea’s Ministry of Environment opened the day’s lectures with a country report that sparked a plethora of questions from the keen audience related to safety, refueling, engine systems, standards and cylinders. The many questions from the active participants highlighted the need for more alternative fuels related forums in the region. The ANGVA NGV School program also included lectures on Korea’s successful NGV program on Bio-methane for transportation by Mr. Ki Dong Kim, a senior researcher from KOGAS.
ANGVA extended an extra special thanks to Kasetsart University ’s Dr. Pipon Boonchanta, who not only helped to run the event, gave lectures and moderated the many questions, but also skillfully translated much of the more technical elements involved in the days proceedings. Certificates of attendance, signed by the President of ANGVA, the President of TANGV and Dean of NGV SCHOOL were presented to every attendee. The school closed with the attendees shouting “We are the frontiers of NGV” which echoed across the campus of Kasetsart University.
The 7th ANGVA NGV School will be held over two days on the 26th and 27th of April 2007 at Seoul National University.
