On 28 Sept, the Asia-Pacific NGV Association (ANGVA) Board had its 12th meeting at the new ANGVA office. The Secretariat has moved from Korea to Bangi, a town 25 km south of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, not far from the KL International Airport and Putra Jaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia. In addition to the new office, the Board welcomed Lee Giok Seng as the new Executive Director. Lee will be joined in the near future by two additional staff members, thus making the Secretariat a viable entity well capable of serving the NGV industry in the Asia Pacific region, stretching from the Middle East to Japan and including some of the largest NGV countries in the world.
The new office is at a Petronas research establishment and ANGVA is sharing space and some facilities with ASCOPE (ASEAN Council on Petroleum: Gas Centre). Petronas is the major sponsor of ANGVA.
High on the agenda of the meeting was a report from PTT on progress with the organization of ANGVA2007 Conference and Exhibition which is to be held 27 – 29 Nov in Bangkok.(see LINK) Also discussed was a planned Green Highway project, which has teams driving from Korea and Singapore to arrive in Bangkok on 26 Nov, the day before the start of the conference. Also arriving at that time is Rainer Zietlow who is already on his way from Germany.
The Board discussed the results of the meeting of APEC Energy Ministers in Darwin, Australia in May 2007 and the Darwin Declaration, and the possible impact on NGVs.
