China Considers Fuel Tax to Curb Demand

Reuters reports that the Chinese Government is considering introducing fuel taxes to curb runaway fuel demand. China is the world's second largest consumer of oil and its gasoline and diesel prices are among the lowest in the world. The story suggests a 20-50% tax and quotes a policy consultant as saying that it is likely to be introduced 'within the next year or two'.
