Enviromech Industries (EMI) is a provider of advanced alternative fuel systems and propulsion technologies used on a wide variety of vehicles including heavy trucks, buses, automobiles, and specialty vehicles. Gillig Corporation makes heavy-duty buses for mass transit systems, mainly the BRT and the Low Floor. Now the two companies are getting together to reintroduce Gillig buses to the expanding natural gas vehicle (NGV) marketplace in California and nationally, with EMI winning an exclusive contract to supply Gillig with natural gas fuel systems. Fleets and Fuels also reports EMI is expected to bid to supply between 500 and 600 buses for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). EMI also supplies fuel systems for methane refuse trucks operated by Republic Services and fuel systems (with Worthington-SCI cylinders) for Freightliner’s new CNG trucks.
