Emerson’s Micro Motion Coriolis Meters MID-Certified – Suited for LNG

Emerson Micro Motion ELITE Coriolis Meter

Emerson Process Management has obtained an extension to its MID (Measurement Instrument Directive) certificate to include Micro Motion ELITE Coriolis meters for low flow applications. The Micro Motion meters are ideally suited to cryogenic applications for dispensing liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel to motor vehicles, including public transport and trucks.  MID certification means that when these new, compact  flowmeters are used as a component of a complete measuring system, such as a fuel dispenser, it is not necessary for the dispenser manufacturer to type test and certify the devices – saving both time and money for the dispenser manufacturer.

“The extension of the MID-approval to these smaller size flowmeters represents an important addition to the Emerson range of Coriolis measuring instruments for LNG applications, including custody transfer” said Denis Henrot, Vice President of Micro Motion in Europe in a company press release. “Our highly accurate Coriolis flowmeters can now be used for low flow applications in fuelling dispensers, in addition to the established high flow applications in pipelines, tankers and storage systems.”

To meet the needs of manufacturers of both LNG and CNG fuel dispensers, Emerson also offers the Micro Motion CNG050 Compressed Natural Gas meter, which is specifically designed to meet the challenges of measuring mass of compressed natural gas. Over 30,000 CNG050 installations have been carried out worldwide by CNG dispensing manufacturers.
