EIA: Transportation will Drive Growth in Oil Demand (Up 42% by 2025)

August 15, 2005
USA, Washington
The US Energy Information Administration has released its International Energy Outlook 2005, indicating that increasing demand from the transport sector will increase oil consumption by 42% or 119 million barrels per day, between now and 2025. The report makes scant reference to alternative fuels, saying that,  “Barring any increase in the penetration of new technologies, such as hydrogen-fueled vehicles, the use of alternative fuels is expected to remain relatively modest through 2025.”  http://www.eia.doe.gov/oiaf/ieo/pdf/0484(2005).pdf
