EC Seeks Stakeholder Comment on Energy Efficiency

January 31, 2006

The call for comments on the European Commission’s June 2005 Green paper on
energy efficiency closes on 31 March 2006. Comments are being sought on all aspects of energy consumption, including transport. There are specific questions to be answered, with a number on the transport sector including:

  • How to ensure the vehicle industry produces more energy efficient vehicles
(Question 11, sections 1,2,3 of the paper)
  • Infrastructure projects from trans-European transport networks. How should the investment be developed and who should pay? (Question 1, section 4.2 of the paper)
  • What technologies have the greatest potential in the transport sector? (Question 19, section 4.3-4.5 of the paper)
  • How can energy efficient vehicles be promoted through procurement
programmes? (Question 20, section 4.3 of the paper)

The more responses that are received by the Commission to support NGV
development, the better the chance that the NGV issues will be included in future
strategies of the European Commission. ENGVA suggests that all members provide
their input.
