Eastern Russia Prepares for NGVs

November 24, 2011 | Russia

Alexey Miller, CEO Gazprom and Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation commission the GTS.

The Gazprom Management Committee has approved the work done by Gazprom to implement the Eastern Gas Program which now delivers natural gas via the newly commissioned Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok gas transmission system (GTS), to Vladivostok and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. With plans underway to further boost natural gas consumption, it is also proposed to develop programs for switching motor vehicles and agricultural equipment to natural gas in the Sakhalin Oblast, the Khabarovsk, Primorye and Kamchatka Krais. “I am confident that everybody in the Far East will soon feel the benefits of natural gas for the economic development and the improvement of living conditions,” said Alexey Miller, Gazprom Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Management Committee (CEO).
