Dongfeng Citro

July 5, 2006

Dongfeng CNG Citroen Elysee
Dongfeng’s Citroën Elysée, China’s first OEM bi-fuel compressed
natural gas (CNG) gasoline vehicle is meeting with success in Chinese
markets. According to Dongfeng Citroën 100 orders were placed within
the first ten days of its launch last year and is proving popular for
taxi and private vehicle applications.

100 of the Elysée’s are operating as taxis in Qing Dao City (Shan Dong
Province) while sales are reportedly ‘strong’ in Hai Nan provice.

The  CNG Elysée sports a 1.6L, 8V engine, a manual transmission and a
65L CNG bottle. Based on local conditions the Elysée bi-fuel costs
30%-50% less when it uses CNG than gasoline. The Elysée bi-fuel can
reduce exhaust emissions by 82.2%, with HC, CO, NOx and Pb reduced
about 70%, 90%, 40% and 100% respectively.
