Czech Republic Sets 2020 Targets

March 16, 2006

Czech Republic, Prague

The Czech Republic has signed agreements with gas supplier, RWE Transgas and other parties, agreeing to establish at least 100 compressed natural gas (CNG) refuelling stations by 2020. The stations are hoped to support targets aiming for natural gas to displace 10% of gasoline and diesel use in transport.

The agreement follows a Government resolution passed in May last year to conform to European Union targets and was signed on behalf of the Government by the Minister for Trade and Industry, Milan Urban.
At present there are 15 CNG stations in the Czech republic with only 9 of these publicly accessible.
