Under the auspices of the Dhaka Clean Fuel Project an invitation-only seminar on safety issues surrounding the maintenance and inspection of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, filling stations, conversion workshops and on-board storage cylinders will be held in Dhaka on 22 February.
The Seminar will include an overview for policy and decision-makers on regulations, codes & standards to be implemented, and inspection, maintenance and safety on CNG use in Bangladesh. It is planned to kick start a programme that will eventually lead to the establishment of a CNG training institute and increased support for alternative fuels in Bangaladesh.
Despite the expansion of the local industry under Government direction, safety and maintenance issues regarding the use of CNG fuelled vehicles remain.
