Clean Energy Wins Ohio Bus Refuelling Contract

July 3, 2008

USA, California

45-Bus Natural Gas Fleet

METRO RTA, the public transit provider for the City of Akron and Summit County, Ohio, has awarded Clean Energy Fuels Corp. a five-year contract to operate and maintain the fueling station for METRO’s fleet of 45 full-sized compressed natural gas (CNG) buses. Located south of Cleveland, with a population of more than 200,000, Akron is the largest city in Summit County’s 420-square mile territory. METRO RTA has been operating natural gas buses for more than ten years and averages six million transit passenger trips a year on more than 30 routes.

METRO RTA is Clean Energy’s first customer in Ohio, President and CEO of Clean Energy, Andrew Littlefair said. “…already a number of other Ohio public agencies have expressed a strong interest in converting their fleets to natural gas to help curtail harmful air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce their transportation operating costs.”
