China’s Fujian Province to Switch to LNG for 2000 Buses

June 25, 2009

China, Fuzhou (Xinhua)

2,000 inter-city buses in East China’s Fujian Province are to be fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG) according to a report by China View. Fujian Investment and Development Group Ltd. will reportedly invest 320 million yuan (USD 46.85 million) in the construction of 30 gas filling stations dispensing up to 133,000 tonnes of LNG for the fleet. The initiative is expected to replace 180,000 tonnes of gasoline and diesel a year. Additional plans include using LNG for more than 1,000 sand, coal and cement carrying vessels on the waterways in the province and along its coast. Fuel is expected to be sourced from Indonesia under a 25 year, 2.6 million tonne agreement signed by Fujian.
