Ham Opens Two Natural Gas Fuelling Stations in Catalonia

Catalonia, a region in north-east Spain, is home to two new fuelling stations set up by Ham Group, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) distributor and transport company. Together with filling station proprietor Bionet, Ham has set up a new public access compressed (CNG) and liquefied natural gas station in Tarragona. In nearby Igualada, a soon to be opened a public UCG-Ham service station will supply CNG. Both stations also dispense other fuels. Ham now has six service stations operational, the others being at Abrera, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia and Guadalajara.

Landi Renzo USA Receives 2012 CARB CNG Certification for Ford E Series Vans

Landi Renzo USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Landi Renzo SpA, has received the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order for the 2012 Ford 5.4 liter CNG E Series passenger and cargo vans.  The Executive Order is for the dedicated CNG (compressed natural gas) system for the Ford Econoline 5.4L engine product family:  E250 Cargo Vans; the E350 Cargo and Passenger Vans; and select models of the E350 cutaway chassis.

(CWI), a major provider of high-performance, alternative fuel engines for the global market, will be offered by truck manufacturer Navistar in the International® TranStar and WorkStar trucks. The Cummins Westport ISL G, an 8.9 litre stoichiometric cooled-exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) engine, is certified to 2010 EPA emissions.

Abu Dhabi Police Transfer Fleet to Natural Gas

Under the directives of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) is transferring its 522 vehicles to run on natural gas. The Department of Transport at ADP, as part of its efforts to reduce pollution and maintain a clean environment, has already completed the transfer of more than 10 per cent of the fleet in 2011. An additional 15% will be converted in 2012.

After a successful debut in 2011 VW has again presented a special edition VW Caddy for a limited two-month offer. Adopting the name of renowned German “Circus Roncalli” to promote its own circus star, the VW Caddy Roncalli Edition range includes the compressed natural gas (CNG) powered Caddy Roncalli BiFuel (petrol/CNG). Compared with the standard model the EcoFuel Roncalli is capable of 50% less fuel costs (under current conditions). VW is offering a very favourable price advantage of up to EUR 6268 (USD 8247) for the bi-fuel model only, cheaper than most of the diesel models on offer.

CNG-Powered Street Sweepers Save Millions of Rubles in Russia

The municipality of Naberezhnye Chelny, located in the the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, recently hosted a conference on “CNG KAMAZ Vehicles”, which was initiated by OJSC KAMAZ – OOO RariTEK, the manufacturer. Participants learned of the many benefits of utilising natural gas fuelled vehicles. The municipality was able to report on its experience operating 8 combined street-sweeping dump trucks leased from Kamaz early 2011. The CNG fuelled ED-405AGs, based on KAMAZ-65115-30 chassis and operating to Euro IV standard, reduced operational costs by more than 2 million rubles (almost USD 66,000) over 8 months.

EcoDual Gains EPA Compliance Listing for Dual-Fuel Conversions of Cummins ISX Engine

EcoDual, LLC, a provider of dual-fuel conversion systems for heavy duty diesel trucks, has achieved authorization from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to begin installing its systems on 2004 to 2009 Cummins ISX engines. The EcoDual conversion kit for the 15L Cummins ISX engine, one of the most widely used engines in heavy duty trucking with more than 1 million currently in service, will provide fleets with an opportunity to substitute low cost natural gas for expensive diesel fuel.

Metro Taxi Rolls Out CNG MV-1 Disability Vehicle

Metro Taxi, the State of Connecticut’s largest, full-service taxicab company, has rolled out six new MV-1 mobility vehicles, reports Connecticut Business News Journal (conntact). Developed by Miami-based The Vehicle Production Group LLC and produced in Indiana, the compressed natural gas (CNG) powered MV-1 is said to be the world’s first vehicle to be designed from the ground up as a wheelchair-accessible taxi. The Vehicle Production Group also states that MV-1 is the only factory-built light-duty vehicle to date that meets or exceeds the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act.MV-1.

CNG Station Plans to Serve HD Truck and Transportation Fleets in Wisconsin

TrilliumHD, a joint venture between Integrys Transportation Fuels, LLC, operating as Trillium CNG, and Paper Transport, Inc., both with offices in Green Bay, Wisconsin is building the area’s first public compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station. The station’s primary customers will be heavy-duty trucking and transportation fleets. Special fueling programs will be available to fleets wanting to take advantage of the economic and environmental benefits of CNG. Paper Transport, Inc., is the first fleet to contract with TrilliumHD, which will build, operate and maintain the station.

AT&T Orders 1,200 CNG-powered Chevrolet Express Vans

AT&T plans to take delivery of 1,200 Chevrolet Express compressed natural gas (CNG) dedicated cargo vans for deployment to AT&T service centers across the United States. It is the largest-ever order of CNG vehicles from General Motors. AT&T will use the vans to provide and maintain communications, high-speed internet and television services for AT&T customers. Last week, the company announced the milestone deployment of its 5,000th alternative-fuel vehicle, a Chevrolet Express van, as part of the commitment.

They have commenced a six-week trial with a MAN compressed natural gas (CNG) powered bus. Said James Freeman, Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer: “We have readily accepted the opportunity to trial the new technology which offers even lower emissions than the recent batch of hybrid buses operating successfully in the town.”

AT&T’s 5000th Alt-Fuel Vehicle – CNG Powered

Communications holding company AT&T is cruising towards its target of 15,000 cleaner-fuel fleet vehicles with the deployment of its 5000th clean vehicle – a compressed natural gas (CNG) powered van. In fact, AT&T has made one of the largest U.S. corporate commitments to compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles to date. Through 2013, AT&T anticipates it will have purchased up to 8,000 CNG vehicles at an estimated cost of $350 million.

Pomona Picks Mack CNG Trucks to Replace Diesel-Powered Refuse Fleet

The City of Pomona, California, has replaced its entire diesel powered refuse fleet of 22 trucks with compressed natural gas (CNG) Mack trucks set up with New Way bodies, reports Government Fleet. City Council approved the purchase in December 2011, and the City expects delivery of the vehicles — twenty CNG sideloaders & two CNG rearloaders – in August and September this year. Total cost to the city was approx. USD 5.6 million after grant funding from the California Energy Commission (CEC).

Five CNG Trucks for US Foods
