The American Gas Association, host organization for LNG 17 — the 17th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas — taking place in April of 2013 in Houston, is seeking expressions of interest and support directed at enlarging the natural gas vehicle profile at this forthcoming event. In the past, LNG for transportation has played a very small role in the conference. For LNG 17, both the NGV industry and the conference organizers would like to have LNG for transportation play a much larger role in both the conference program and the exhibition. NGVAmerica has been asked by the conference organizers to help facilitate that effort.

NGV India 2010 – South Asia’s Natural Gas for Vehicles Conference and Exhibition: November 24th to 26th, Mumbai
In preparation for November’s NGV India 2010 conference and exhibition, organiser BES and host Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) have opened the NGV India 2010 secretariat office in the nearby Andheri Corporate Park in Mumbai. The office will serve as the operational hub as well as the center for promotion activities for the event. Thus far, NGV India 2010 has participating companies from over 20 countries and occupies over 8,000 sqm of the Bombay Exhibition Center, located close to Mumbai International Airport.

Gazprom and Russian National Gas Vehicle Association (NGVRUS) will stage the 8th International Exhibition GasSUF-2010 Exhibition in Sokol’niki, Moscow, from September 14 – 17, 2010. While continuing its focus on production and use of alternative transportation fuels such compressed and liquefied natural gas, biomethane and other alternatives, the exhibition will also feature OEM light, medium and HD vehicles, high pressure and cryogenic tanks and cylinders, compression and liquefaction equipment and technologies, biomethane and coal bed methane systems, hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, dispensers, high pressure and low temperature gear, control systems, measuring tools, diagnostics, identification and related technologies.

SAE-A 2010 Gaseous Fuels Conference (July 26 and 27) – Melbourne, Australia
Last year, the Society of Automotive Engineers – Australia (SAE-A) ran a very successful one-day gaseous fuels conference in response to growing interest in the country. This year, new technologies, new customers and new opportunities have provided demand for the conference to expand to two days, aimed at highlighting all sectors of the gaseous fuels industry. The Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicle Association (ANGVA) is building expertise in the region by running two CNG Cylinder Inspection Courses, one each in Bangkok, Thailand and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The first course, in Bangkok, will run from 23rd to 25th June 2010. The second course, in Kuala Lumpur, will run from 28th to 30th June 2010. Authorities in both countries are considering accrediting course graduates as certified inspectors.

A new inventory of companies engaged in dual-fuel gaseous/diesel engines and vehicles – natural gas and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) – has identified at least 33 different companies engaged in some form of development, production and sale of these emerging technologies. The companies, originating from 12 countries, represent a diverse range of technologies and interest in commercializing these economic and environmental alternatives to the straight diesel engine. Dual-fuel gas engines are designed to operate on natural gas or LPG with varying amounts of diesel fuel as a ‘pilot’ ignition source. Dual-fuel natural gas engines (including high pressure direct injection natural gas engines, also referred to as HPDI) replace up to 85-95% diesel; dual-fuel LPG engines replace about 35-40% diesel.

The 2010 edition of Eco Mobiliste (Ecomobiliste 2010 de l’ATE), published in time for the Geneva Motor Show, is once again populated with large numbers of natural gas / biogas vehicles. Among the ten best vehicles, five are NGVs. A third of the top 80 vehicles are NGVs; by comparison only four are hybrids.
