Kenworth Annual Show Facilitates Natural Gas Vehicle Selection by Fleet Operators

USA-based Kenworth Truck Company hosted a truck show in Indianapolis featuring compressed natural gas (CNG) powered and hybrid Kenworths at the start of December. The company’s dedication to provision of green fleet choices includes compressed and liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks. More than 350 truck and fleet operators learned about new available equipment and the future of natural gas fuel in the trucking industry. Also presented were free training sessions on vehicle maintenance and grant writing.

Canadian Collaborators Push NGV Agenda in B.C.

British Columbia (BC) natural gas and electricity utility FortisBC, in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER), Westport Innovations, Cummins Westport, Vedder Transport, and Waste Management, headed to the B.C. Legislature in Victoria in November to showcase a variety of natural gas vehicles. The vehicles, parked at the front steps of the legislature and accompanied by a number of experts, stimulated much interest from government officials including Hon. Terry Lake, Minister of Environment, Hon. Blair Lekstrom, Minister of Transportation, Hon. Pat Bell, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation and several Members of the Legislative Assembly. NGV 2012 Appoints International Sales and Marketing Partners

The organising committee for NGV 2012, the 13th Biennial Conference and Exhibition of NGV Global, has appointed international partners for the sales and marketing of the three day exhibition. Asian Exhibition Services (AES) Ltd, based in Bangkok, will cover global markets while Beijing Qifa Exhibition Service Co., Ltd will cover mainland Chinese companies.

NGV 2012 will be held from 9-11 October 2012 in Chuncheon, just 40 minutes from Seoul, the first time the event has been hosted in Asia in over a decade, when Japan hosted NGV 2000. In the intervening period events were held consecutively in Argentina, Egypt, Brazil and Italy. Read more »

Russia’s Blue Corridor Event Communicates NGV Benefits

A column of 15 natural gas vehicles (NGVs), participants in Russia’s 5th Blue Corridor Rally, have reached journey’s end in Moscow having covered 3,600 kilometres. Starting in Ekaterinburg on October 19th, the Rally has passed through a succession of 10 regional capitals, drawing attention to the benefits of natural gas as a fuel for transportation and developing or refining protocols toward sector expansion with authorities and gas companies. NGV Global invites natural gas vehicle industry members to an international workshop and forum for an update on ISO “Natural Gas Fuelling Stations for Vehicles” standards currently under development for CNG and LNG. The ISO process combines the expertise of experts from throughout the world to create rigorous standards and remove barriers to global trade.

The workshop will present a summary of both sets of draft standards, including unresolved technical issues, and the forum will solicit feedback from industry members on any gaps or issues they see in the standards.

The workshop will emphasize cross cutting issues between ISO PC 252 and other ISO groups, and also other industry stakeholders. These issues are, for example: oil carryover, gas quality, terminology, temperature and pressure levels (CNG & LNG), methane numbers, odorization, on-board detection, and vehicle & cylinder verification at the time of filling. Russia’s 5th Blue Corridor Rally Nears Start Date

Preparation are underway for the fifth “Blue Corridor” rally for factory-made natural gas vehicles (NGVs) in Russia. This year organised by Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg, the journey will commence October 19th in Yekaterinburg, passing through Chelyabinsk – Ufa – Orenburg – Samara – Saratov – Volgograd – Voronezh – Tambov – Tula – to reach Moscow on November 1st, at distance of 3600 km. ANGVA’s 5th Biennial International Conference & Exhibition (ANGVA 2013), 27th – 29th October 2013, New Delhi

The Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicles (ANGVA), and Bangkok Exhibition Services (BES) have signed an agreement for organising ANGVA’s 5th Biennial International Conference & Exhibition (ANGVA 2013). ANGVA 2013 will be held from 29th – 31st October 2013 in New Delhi, India at the India Expo Centre. The theme is “Natural Gas for Vehicles – The Next Generation”. The agreement was signed by ANGVA President Mr. Wichai Pornkeratiwat (Senior Executive Vice President, Gas Business Unit, PTT PLC) and BES General Manager Mr. Justin Pau, at the Sofitel Centara Bangkok Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. ANGVA’s 4th Conference is in Beijing, China, 18th – 20th October 2011.

 

NGV Conference Planned for Dublin

Fuelling Ireland’s Transport Future – Dublin, November 17 2011

Ireland is to host a natural gas vehicle conference in Dublin on November 17th, to examine natural gas as a transport fuel and also discuss developing a NGV market in Ireland. The conference will be addressed by an expert panel of local and visiting speakers, including NGVA Europe’s Manuel Lage, American Gas Association and Questar’s Ronald W. Jibson, and Mattias Svensson from the Swedish Gas Centre.  Delegates from across the Irish energy and transport sectors and Europe will hear from those with experience of operating NGVs as well as gaining an understanding of important issues around the economics, technology and infrastructure for NGVs.

Kazakhstan Builds on Successful NGV Implementation

Over the past two years the Republic of Kazakhstan has embraced natural gas for transportation, celebrated and formally kicked off last March 2011 with a Clean Cities Transportation Workshop in Almaty, and the commissioning of its first refuelling infrastructure in April 2010. With concrete plans to build 100 CNG stations and distribute over 100,000 NGVs by 2014, Kazakhstan is said by some to be the next frontier for NGV growth in the Asia Pacific region. Now the country is ready to share its experiences with other cities in the region, via a CNG-NGV Central Asia Forum to be held later this month. Read more »
