For the 2013 model year, Chart’s LNG truck fuel system has been integrated into a self-contained unit for simplified and expedited installation, as required by high-volume assembly lines. The dual-fuel system allows trucks to run on a mixture of diesel and up to 70% clean natural gas. EcoDual, LLC, a provider of dual-fuel conversion systems for heavy duty diesel trucks, has achieved authorization from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to begin installing its systems on all 29 engine families of the 2004 to 2009 Cummins ISM engines. Kenworth Truck has boosted the operating range of its natural gas powered T800 Day Cab and Extended Day Cab models by offering an additional 60 diesel gallon equivalent LNG fuel tank as a buyer option.
