Brazil’s Sulgás Offers Incentives to Boost Natural Gas Conversions

June 29, 2009 | Brazil, Porto Alegre

Free or discounted fuel, conversion discounts…

The Gas Company of Rio Grande do Sul (Sulgás) has commenced a new initiative to expand sales in the natural gas vehicle sector. The program — GNV: Sinal Verde para a Economia (CNG: Green Sign for the Economy) — was launched in collaboration with a network of fuelling stations, vehicle converters and distributors of natural gas vehicle equipment for commencement 1 July.

The program, which has government support, is divided into two parts. It offers conversion incentives for new users, being a bonus of 400 cubic metres of fuel from Sulgás and a 10% discount on conversion, and fuel discounts for the 37 thousand already-converted users.

The director-president of Sulgás, Antônio Goidanich, said the promotion is the result of a joint effort of the entire CNG chain and that meets the objectives of the company to expand the supply an environmentally friendly fuel mainly in large urban centers.

The offer concludes 30 August 2009.
