Westport is assisting North American fleet operators to invest in or expand their natural gas fuelled fleet by offering free fuel from any of Clean Energy Fuel’s retail stations. According to a Fleets & Fuels report, fleet operators can qualify by buying five or more Ford pickups converted to CNG using the Westport WiNG system by end of 2013 and Westport will pay for fuel through to the end of 2015.
Westport says it’s ready to grant fuel credits for up to 750,000 gasoline gallon equivalents (GGE) of compressed natural gas on a “first-come-first-served” basis. In addition, buying more trucks increases the savings. Buy five Westport WiNG-powered Ford F-150 trucks and reportedly receive 500 GGEs of free CNG per truck, equivalent to $10,755 worth of CNG. Buy 50 or more vehicles and receive 2,500 GGEs of free CNG per truck, equal to saving $239,000 in fuel.
