Germany’s ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club e.V.) has declared its annual choices for Yellow Angel Awards and once again the natural gas powered VW Passat TWI EcoFuel has been designated “Yellow Angel” in the Car of the Future Category. It received the same award in 2011.
VW says the Passat TSI EcoFuel has been setting new standards for natural gas powered cars since its market launch in 2009. Its bivalent 1.4 TSI engine with 110 kW / 150 PS can be powered with either natural gas or petrol, and it impresses with its low fuel consumption values and low CO2 emissions of 117 g/km. An auto-test conducted by ADAC, resulting in 5 stars, measured fuel consumption at only 4.5 kg natural gas per 100 km, while the 21 kg fuel capacity delivered a range of over 400 km in practice.
In explaining its award selection, the jury of experts praised the Passat TSI EcoFuel for its very high level of development with regard to everyday practicality, economy, environmental compatibility and safety.
