ReinigingsDemoDagen (RDD), a leading European trade fair for the waste and cleaning sector, will this year feature Volvo Trucks. In addition to a Volvo FE Low Entry Cab (LEC) on CNG, a Volvo FH LNG will also be on the stand.

The Volvo FE LEC offers space for three passengers and has a flat floor. The vehicle runs on CNG – Compressed Natural Gas – which emits less CO2 than comparable diesel models. The Low Entry Cab supports all-round visibility and driver efficiency

In addition to CNG, Volvo Trucks also supplies LNG vehicles. More than 50 LNG trucks are now operating in the Netherlands and the number is increasing. The Volvo FH LNG is powered by engines using the diesel principle instead of a spark-ignition otto motor, the common gas-powered solution. This means that a carrier who opts for LNG can do this without compromising on driving characteristics, fuel consumption or reliability.

Volvo’s 460 hp engine on LNG delivers a maximum torque of 2,300 Nm; the 420 hp version produces 2,100 Nm. This corresponds to Volvo’s diesel engines. Fuel consumption is also the same as that of Volvo’s diesel engines and is 15 to 25% lower than with conventional gas-powered otto motors.

The fuel used is liquefied natural gas or LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) or liquefied biogas, which is known as bio-LNG. When using biogas, a renewable natural gas (RNG), the ecological footprint (CO2 emissions) is reduced by no less than 100%. With natural gas the reduction is 20%.

The Cleaning Demo Days (RDD) will take place on 5 and 6 June on the grounds of the National Military Museum (NMM) in Soesterberg is a town in the Dutch province of Utrecht.
