Vereinigte BioEnergie AG (VERBIO), a German biofuels company, Verbio has expanded its biomethane distribution and now supplying the two natural gas filling stations in the west German town of Langenfeld with 100% verbiogas. This brings the total number of natural gas refuelling stations which have completely converted to biomethane in Germany to 100, 82 of which obtain it exclusively from VERBIO.
Declared Kersten Kerl, CEO of multi-utility Stadtwerke Langenfeld: “We’re delighted that Langenfeld’s CNG cars will in future be even greener since they’ll be running on 100% biomethane made from waste. And the best thing is that it won’t cost them a penny more. We hope that even more people in our region will switch to natural gas cars and we organize special events where we explain the advantages of doing so. And we don’t stop there – for we give €1,500 (USD 1,950) to anyone in Langenfeld who buys a CNG car or has their vehicle converted to natural gas.”
Claus Sauter, CEO of VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG, added: “The Langenfeld example shows that while others talk hot air, more and more German municipalities are tackling climate change head on. That’s good for the environment and the local quality of life. And it proves that our distribution strategy is taking off. We’re focusing on serving the municipal utilities in Germany, and we’re vindicated by the growing number of contracts.”
Since verbiogas is made solely from agricultural residues such as straw, it doesn’t conflict with food production or entail unacceptable side-effects such as farmland being used to grow energy crops instead of food. Moreover, as verbiogas has the same chemical composition and quality as natural gas, it can be blended with it in any ratio and safely used in all natural gas vehicles. This greener biofuel can therefore be sold at filling stations at the same price as natural gas at no extra cost. verbiogas slashes CO2 emissions by 90% compared to conventional fuels, making an effective contribution to protecting the climate.
The two new stations are located at bft Hans-Böckler-Strasse 66, 40764 Langenfeld, and ARAL Hardt 76, 40764 Langenfeld.
