Thirty five Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) -powered buses, manufactured by Higer Bus, a Chinese bus manufacturer based in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, were officially handed over to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in mid-May.
Mr. Roha, Minister for Transport, Mr.Edwin, Chairman of P Company, Lisa, Managing Director of Distributors as well as relevant leaders were present at the ceremony in Trinidad, as were a total of more than 300 people, including government officials, enterprise representatives and other interested parties.
Mr. Roha expressed the hope that this batch of new buses will relieve pressure on the local public transport system and create superior mobility conditions for local citizens as well as help to mitigate transport-related air pollution. Seventeen 12m buses and three 12m coaches will operate in Trinidad.
Ten 9m minibus and five 10.5m bus were also delivered in Tobago Island which is known as the tourist paradise, on June 6.
All buses are equipped with EuroV CNG natural gas engines which can effectively reduce energy consumption, protect local environment through reduced emissions, and lower transport costs.
