Tata LPO 1613 CNG buses will reduce air and noise pollution in Pune.
Tata Motors has successfully tendered for the supply of 550 Compressed Natural gas (CNG) buses for Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), India’s 8th largest city. The buses have been tendered under the private hiring scheme totaling 660 buses, with 83% of supply awarded to Tata. As per the scheme the private operators have to buy, operate & maintain the buses. PMPML will do the revenue collection. Operators are paid on per km basis with minimum guaranteed kms.
The order includes 439 fully built buses and 110 bus chassis. Tata sees it as a vote of confidence in its new generation LPO 1613 CNG vehicle which came onto the market in December last year.
Meant for city passenger transportation, the Tata LPO 1613/55 CNG BSIV fully-built, front-engine bus has been designed specifically for city transportation needs, with minimum CO2 emissions, comfortable entry and exit, ergonomically designed seats and generous saloon space.
The BS IV compliant LPO 1613/55 CNG BSIV drive-train is driven by a 96 kw Tata 5.7 SGI Bharat Stage IV engine.
As per PMPML’s management scheme, private operators have to buy, operate & maintain the buses and PMPML looks after revenue collection. Operators are paid on per km basis with minimum guaranteed kms.
