(SoCalGas), the primary provider of natural gas to the region of Southern California, is helping California fleets obtain funding for the purchase of new near-zero emissions heavy-duty natural gas trucks. Fleets operating within the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) are able to apply for incentive funding to replace diesel trucks with new near-zero emissions natural gas trucks through the Carl Moyer Program. On February 18, the EU reached the decision to regulate CO2 emissions from heavy-duty vehicles. Volvo Trucks produces HD trucks powered by natural gas (CNG and LNG) and biomethane. To speed up development, the heavy duty truck manufacturer continues to invest heavily in more climate-friendly transport solutions, but additional measures are needed to stimulate demand for vehicles with low CO2 emissions. Spain’s MOVES Plan Puts Brakes on NGV Support

In Madrid on February 15, Spain’s Council of Ministers approved a proposal of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition which regulates the incentive program for efficient and sustainable mobility (MOVES Program). Unlike the previous two iterations and despite a plea from SEDIGAS, the Spanish natural gas association, for greater recognition of the role of renewable gas in reducing transport-related emissions, most natural gas vehicles have been excluded from the incentive scheme. NGVAmerica Leads Massive Call on Congress to Reinstate Alt-fuels Tax Credit

UK Fuel Differential Freeze a Boost for NGV HGVs

The UK government has announced that the differential between fuel duty on diesel and alternative fuels has been extended to 2032, providing a major boost to an already surging natural gas industry. Natural Gas Vehicle Network (NGVN), which lobbied for the extension, says adoption by HGV operators will help address high emissions from this sector.
