Collaborators Focus on Promoting Natural Gas Vehicles and Fuel in Europe

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), IVECO (a brand of CNH Industrial) and ENGIE have agreed to collaborate on the promotion of natural gas vehicles and infrastructure in Europe, with a particular focus on certain countries and regions. The initiative will unfold first in the Wallonia region of Belgium. The collaboration is in line with the implementation of the DAFI Directive (Directive 2014/94 – Deployment of Alternative Fuels Infrastructures) and is part of a wider set of initiatives to promote sustainable mobility. In Milan this week, Fiat-Chrysler has debuted the vehicle fleet which, as sponsor, it has provided to the Italian government for use during its six-month Presidency of the European Council. Included in the fleet of 61 vehicles are compressed natural gas (CNG) hybrids — 40 Fiat 500Ls and 1 Fiat Panda. As supplier, Fiat will be responsible for providing, free of charge, all official transportation for national and European delegations connected with the Italian Presidency.

The database of EcoMobiliste, the publication of the Swiss Transport and Environment Association (ATE) – which provides information about the least harmful cars to environment available on the Swiss market – has been updated to the end of October 2013. While it shows new models are pushing fuel consumption down, it is once again natural gas vehicles (NGVs) that lead the way. Lancia opened its order books for the Ypsilon Ecochic Methane in Italy mid-December. Equipped with the 80HP 0.9 TwinAir Turbo bi-fuel engine, the new Ypsilon delivers reduced CO2 emission levels (86 g/km) and low fuel consumption (3.1 kg/100 km in the combined type-approval cycle) when running on compressed natural gas (CNG). Iveco Natural Gas Fleet the Culmination of Waste-to-Biomethane Initiative

Iveco S.p.A, a Fiat-owned industrial vehicle and bus manufacturing company based in Turin, Italy, has delivered 34 natural gas vehicles (NGVs) to Sydeme, the public company in charge of the management of domestic waste in Moselle-Est (north-east France). The vehicles consist of six Fiat Professional vans (four Fiorino and two Doblò) and 28 Iveco vehicles which were on display during the ‘Journee Filiere BioMethane’, a day dedicated to biomethane production and valorization, held October 23 in Forbach.
