Two Case Studies released by the US Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory and the sustainable energy NGO Energy Vision highlight the environmental and economic benefits of generating transportation fuel from bio-waste. The studies focus on two successful projects that were among the first to produce Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) vehicle fuel using anaerobic digesters to capture biogases from decomposing organic waste. Spain Approves Incentives for Alt-Fuel Vehicle Purchases
Spain’s Ministry of Energy, Tourism and the Digital Agenda, through the IDAE, last month approved the provision of €35 million (USD 41.5m) for actions aimed at promoting alternative and efficient mobility, which includes an incentive of 20 million euros for the purchase of alternative fuel vehicles ( LPG, natural gas, electricity and fuel cell). EC Approves Alternative-fuel Funding for Czech Republic

The European Commission (EC) approved a measure this week that will see increased deployment of alternative-fuel vehicles in the Czech Republic. The EC has determined that Czech plans to support the creation of a network of refuelling for low emission vehicles to be in line with EU state aid rules. Read more »
New Texas Bill Says Government Fleets Must Buy Alt-Fuel
In the U.S. State of Texas, the Texas Fuels bill recently passed through both the House (HB 1979) and Senate (SB 26). The legislation provides state grants for government entities with more than 15 vehicles to purchase vehicles that use natural gas. State Rep. Brooks Landgraf, co-sponsor of the bill, said that for the first time, Texas will commit to providing state grants for governmental entities to purchase vehicles that utilize the abundant natural gas widely found in the state. UPS Raises Bar to 40% Alt-Fuel Fleet by 2025
Global logistics provider UPS, already operating a massive fleet of alternative fuel vehicles, has set aggressive new sustainability goals to add yet more alt-fuel and advanced technology vehicles to its fleet while increasing its reliance on renewable energy sources.
