Deutz Develops Natural Gas Engine for Agricultural Tractors

Deutz Fahr CNG Tractor 5120ccAgricultural machinery manufacturer SAME Deutz-Fahr introduced a dedicated compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered agricultural tractor at Agritechnica 2015 last week in Hannover, developed as part of a joint research project with Deutz AG and Rostock University and funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) project. Working together, engineers converted a diesel engine to run on natural gas and successfully installed it in a tractor, reducing pollutants and CO2 emissions without any loss of performance. Germany: VERBIO straw handling for biogasVereinigte BioEnergie AG (VERBIO), an independent producer of biomethane for fuel in Germany, has successfully commissioned another major production site for the production of biomethane at Schwedt/Oder. The new internally generated technology used to manufacture biomethane from 100 percent straw, was developed at the Schwedt/Oder location supported by the European Union’s NER 300 subsidy project, providing funding of up to EUR 22.3 million (USD 24.1m) over the period from 2014 to 2019.
