Russia’s Irkutsk Oblast, located in southeastern Siberia, is to test a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered grain harvester manufactured by Belarusian manufacturer Gomselmash. The trial has been formalised under a cooperation agreement signed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Irkutsk Region and Gomselmash OJSC. Read more »

(EDI) has integrated its EDI PowerDrive™ 4000 into a Class-4 General Motors Low Cab Forward platform, creating an industry-first electrified work truck for agriculture applications. The vehicle combines the benefits of a CNG Fuel system and Plug-in Hybrid technology and is geared to help agriculture fleets switch from petroleum-based liquid fuels to domestically available, cleaner burning natural gas and electricity. Gomel, the second-most populous city of Belarus, is home to OJSC Gomselmash, the proud creator of the first grain combine harvester in the world powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). In Uzbekistan, where 1 in 4 Uzbeks works on the land, agriculture accounts for 16.7 percent of GDP and natural gas is abundant, there are currently only about 50 agricultural tractors operating with compressed natural gas (CNG). Italy’s Ecomotive Solutions, a Holdim Group company, introduced the first dual-fuel biomethane application for Fendt Tier4 agricultural tractors last month. Developed in collaboration with the Italian Biogas Consortium and Piccini Paolo Group, the system provides for the use of natural gas or biomethane as an alternative fuel for diesel tractors, storing this gas in the transportable Ecomotive Solutions ‘Bio CNG Pack’.
