Acotral, a Spanish freight transport company based in Antequera (Malaga), has reinforced its commitment to sustainability with the acquisition of ten new units of the natural gas powered IVECO Stralis NP 400. The company conducts 6,000 average daily services and has a fleet of 1,600 owned vehicles which it uses to develop its activity across southern Europe and in Morocco.
These ten IVECO Stralis NP 400 liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles are powered by an 8.7 liter IVECO Cursor 9 Euro VII 8.7 liter engine that develops 400 hp and a maximum torque of 1,700 Nm. The Stralis NP is also the first natural gas truck with 12-speed automatic transmission, thanks to the automated transmission which guarantees lower fuel consumption and greater driving comfort. The higher capacity fuel tanks increase the autonomy with the LNG-only version, which reaches a record distance of 1,500 km.
The reference in Natural Gas
With more than 23,000 units sold worldwide, IVECO is the absolute market leader in commercial vehicle technology propelled by natural gas worldwide. This complete range, the result of a continuous and long-term effort in this alternative fuel technology, has also been consolidated in Spain in 2017. Of the total of 386 gas units sold (heavy vehicles over 16 tons), 291 were vehicles IVECO, which represents an impressive 87.3% share.
IVECO has been awarded the “NGV Global Industry Champion”, awarded by NGV Global. The international association of natural gas vehicles has awarded IVECO this award for its commitment to the natural gas sector and for its efforts in the development of the compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets.
