Puerto Vallarta, a resort town on Mexico’s Pacific coast, in Jalisco state, is set for a clean energy transformation after the Jalisco government approved the purchase of 300 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses and building of a CNG fuel station as part of a project to deliver a model public transportation system.
After meetings with transporters and the shipping company headed by the Secretary of Mobility, Servando Sepúlveda Enríquez, and following financial negotiations, the go ahead to buy the 300 green buses was given, with 50 planned for delivery in the first stage.
Although the government press release did not specify a schedule for implementation, the Secretary of Mobility ratified the willingness and commitment of the State Government to deliver a high quality, environmentally friendly service.
Enriquez said that after recognizing the effort and will of all the involved participants, it is close to the moment in which the transporters of Puerto Vallarta stop being the “villains of the movie” and turn into the factor of change.
