The Portuguese Institute for Quality, IP (Instituto Português da Qualidade – IPQ), a public institution tasked to coordinate the Portuguese Quality System (SPQ) and other regulatory qualification systems, has issued a new standard for vehicle workshops installing and maintaining compresses natural gas (CNG) fuel systems — NP 4533 : 2014 – Equipment and accessories for natural gas (NG) – Workshops for motor vehicles running with natural gas – Work places and procedures
This Standard establishes requirements for workplaces and procedures for the following types of activities:
- installation of natural gas systems that allow the use of gas as fuel;
- maintenance, overhaul and repair of natural gas systems installed in motor vehicles; and
- maintenance, servicing and repair of other systems of motor vehicles that do not specifically involve natural gas.
