Pomona Picks Mack CNG Trucks to Replace Diesel-Powered Refuse Fleet

A Mack-mounted New Way sideloader

The City of Pomona, California, has replaced its entire diesel powered refuse fleet of 22 trucks with compressed natural gas (CNG) Mack trucks set up with New Way bodies, reports Government Fleet. City Council approved the purchase in December 2011, and the City expects delivery of the vehicles — twenty CNG sideloaders & two CNG rearloaders — in August and September this year. Total cost to the city was approx. USD 5.6 million after grant funding from the California Energy Commission (CEC).
