Netherlands-based clean fuel provider PitPoint will deliver green gas (RNG) to around 50 EBS green gas buses in the Haaglanden region from August 2019. This confirms PitPoint’s leading position in the green gas market for public bus transport. Last summer it was announced that EBS had won the Haaglanden region concession and will be providing public bus transport here for the next 10 years.
To realize the delivery of green gas to the buses, PitPoint and EBS are entering into a strategic partnership in this region. The green gas is made available at two refueling locations in Zoetermeer and in Delft. The station in Delft has yet to be built and will be located in Den Hoorn and in Zoetermeer the existing CNG station will be upgraded.
Managing Director Commercial Sales at PitPoint Jan Theo Hoefakker: “We are extremely proud that we can help EBS in this region with the realization of clean public transport. Green gas is an advanced bio fuel and makes a major contribution to achieving the climate objectives. ”
Since the end of 2018, PitPoint has supplied green gas to the 53 green gas buses of EBS in the Voorne Putten region, using stations built at Spijkenisse and Hellevoetsluis. EBS consciously chooses to drive on green gas, which emits 75 percent less CO2 than diesel, while the total costs are comparable to driving on diesel. “This makes green gas the most efficient and cost-effective way to achieve ambitious sustainability objectives,” said Wim Kurver, CEO of EBS.
