Transportes Rodríguez Carranza (TRC), a major national operator in Peru’s transport and storage sector has signed a contract with Gases del Pacífico (GDP) to deliver Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to regions in the north of the country.
GDP is responsible for the distribution and commercialization of natural gas in seven cities in the north of the country. TRC will transport the resource to each of the storage and regasification stations that Gases del Pacífico has built in the regions of Áccash, La Libertad, Lambayeque and Cajamarca.
Associated with the contract, TRC will soon adopt LNG as a transportation fuel for trucks purchased as part of its fleet renewal program. GDP, in turn, will set up two LNG filling stations to service TRC and other heavy duty vehicles. The stations will be located in the cities of Trujillo and Huarmey (Chimbote).
It is expected that the stations and LNG-fuelled fleet will commence operations in 2017.
