Pall-Ex, the European palletised freight specialist, has taken another step in its environmental commitments with a new order of 30 environmentally friendly forklift trucks. As part of a new contract with its long-standing supplier Briggs Equipment, the group’s main UK hub in Leicestershire will use 30 Hyster forklift trucks, powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) for even lower emissions than LPG.
Under a four-year deal, the Cannock-based company will take care of all maintenance and servicing of Pall-Ex’s H2.5FT and H2.0FT forklift trucks and diesel trailer shunters, which will be supplied in the black Pall-Ex livery. It will also provide customised models for specific jobs.
“We have been using Briggs Equipment for 12 years now as they are the only British supplier able to provide us with these types of forklifts,” explained Pall-Ex Group managing director Adrian Russell.
“We pride ourselves on both the operational and environmental efficiency of our hub. These vehicles bring the perfect marriage of the two. Having our fleet powered by CNG means that we can keep up to our ethos of being one of the greenest road haulage operations in the world.”
Pall-Ex is not new to natural gas, having ordered 40 Hyster CNG-powered forklifts in 2009.
