NIPCO CNG Station (Sapele)
Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO) Plc, in a joint venture with Nigeria Gas Company (NGC), has embarked on building more compressed natural gas (CNG) refuelling stations in and around Benin City, the capital of Edo State in southern Nigeria, reports The Moment.
Six CNG stations have already been built and two more are currently under construction. Managing Director Venkataraman Venkatapathy has urged motorists to reduce dependency on petrol and increase utilisation of the country’s own natural gas resources by converting their vehicles to bi-fuel operation.
NIPCO has converted Edo State Government buses to run on CNG, reducing fuel costs by 50 percent.
