NGV Global’s first Technical Forum, held in Mexico City ahead of NGV Global 2012, has been hailed a success by the association and delegates attending the event. The open forum replaced NGV Global’s previous Technical Committee meeting format, usually held in advance of the biennial conference or annual meetings. Chaired by Dr Alex Lawson, the association’s Technical Chair, the three hour forum covered:
- CNG Safety issues
- RFID Opportunities
- LNG Issues
- CNG & LNG Gas Quality
A moderated panel discussion format, including brief presentations from expert panel members and interactive Q and A sessions, kept delegates engaged throughout the forum.
Lawson said the new-style forum, which attracted more than twice the expected 50 delegates, was a success and will likely be continued at future NGV Global events, possibly with an extended program.
Dick Kauling, Engineering Manager at General Motors, Canada, who sat on two of the expert panels said the forum was valuable and looked forward to participating in the next one. “It’s important that we don’t undervalue the technical aspects of the industry and it was great to have these at the forefront, instead of the marketing focus that conferences often have.”
Presentations from the Technical Forum will be available on the NGV Global online knowledge base within the next two weeks.
