NGV Global facilitated an NGV Centre of Technical Excellence (CoTE) at Gastech 2015 in Singapore at the end of October. The CoTE was part of a technical seminar programme held in the exhibition hall over the 4 days of the Gastech exhibition. The interactive seminars were free to attend and visitors to the exhibition could drop in to as many of the presentations as they liked. The NGV sessions were well attended with most attracting over 50 participants.
The NGV CoTE was facilitated by NGV Global Board Member, Brenda Smith of Gas Advisers who kicked off the day of presentations with an overview of the industry entitled “The Outlook for Natural Gas Vehicles Worldwide”.
This was followed by a presentation from Black and Veatch on small scale LNG technology, a comparison of LNG and CNG powered heavy truck applications by Jeffrey Liu of Universal LNG Holdings and a session on natural gas flow regulation and fuel temperature homogenization by Mark Henley of Parker Hannifin.
The second part of the day focused on LNG and included a presentation on its growing importance as a transportation fuel in Europe by Michael Liu Yongxin of ENN and another on LNG fuelling stations and related equipment by Vaclav Chrz of Chart Ferox.
The CoTE format is an excellent way of highlighting the latest technologies, showcasing new projects and products to exhibition visitors, and stimulating inquiry and conversation about ways forward for the industry. As part of its commitment to furthering the global expansion of natural gas as a fuel for transportation, NGV Global seeks to provide further opportunities for participant involvement in activities of this type at major gas industry events such as Gastech.
