Natural Gas An Increasingly Attractive Fuel for German Motorists

| Germany

E.ON AG, an international energy supplier based in Dusseldorf, Germany, has observed increasing interest in natural gas as a vehicle fuel across Germany in response to petrol and diesel prices reaching new highs. Already operating more than 80 of the 900+ compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations in Germany, the company has stated it will continue its drive to expand refuelling infrastructure.

E.ON says that taking consumption figures alone, natural gas vehicles (NGVs) deliver users to their destination with the same performance but over 50 per cent cheaper than with premium-grade petrol. A journey of 100 km currently costs about EUR 4.50 using a natural gas vehicle (NGV), depending on the particular type of vehicle and its consumption.
