The city of Vilnius will add 19 new climate-friendly buses to its public transportation fleet, Vilniaus viešasis transportas, in late January. The purchase of Solaris Urbino 12 CNG buses, which carry up to 85 passengers, builds on the 18 MAN Lions City CNG buses commissioned in March this year.
The Urbino 12 low floor bus employs a Cummins ISLG8.9E6 320 (239 kW) engine which meets Euro V and EEV standards. The gas-powered drive allows the emission of gaseous pollutants to be reduced by 85%, and particulate matter by almost 100% when compared to conventional engines.
Six roof-mounted 214 litre composite CNG cylinders enable an operating range of approximately 450 kms.
