The City of Montebello, located east of downtown Los Angeles, is celebrating completion of a USD 2.4 million compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station, reports Pasadena Star-News.

Built to service Montebello Bus Lines’ growing fleet of CNG-powered buses, with seven existing buses and fourteen more planned to replace diesel buses on retirement, the station was paid for by the federal-funded Transit Investments for Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction (TIGGER) program.

It was constructed by natural gas provider Clean Energy, based in California.
