MAZ Introduces Prototype CNG Bus

| Belarus, Minsk

MAZ 203 CNGMAZ (Minsky Automobilny Zavod – Minsk Automobile Plant), a Belarusian manufacturer of trucks and buses, has debuted a prototype compressed natural gas (CNG) bus at COMTRANS 2013. The 12 metre bus is equipped with the Mercedes M 906 LAG EEV engine producing power of 205 kW and an Allison automatic gearbox T310 R.

The prototype bus presented at the exhibition is the first step in the design and creation of the MAZ vehicles to operate using compressed natural gas, which the company recognizes as a “dynamically developing area”.

Selecting this bus allows an operator to reduce the cost of fuel and has no negative impact on the environment. Natural gas vehicles (NGVs) emit almost no carbon monoxide (CO); are characterized by low emissions of unburned hydrocarbons (CH); and there is no exhaust soot — all of which significantly reduces overall emissions.
