Clean Air Power, developer of dual-fuel combustion technology that enables heavy-duty diesel engines to operate on a combination of diesel and natural gas, last month received a Genesis Edge systems order from Spain’s Ham Group, a European logistics operator. Ham ordered 50 Renault Magnum compatible Genesis Edge Dual-Fuel™ retrofit system systems in April 2012 and has now followed this with an order for another 30 systems.
John Pettitt, CEO of Clean Air Power, told NGV Global News the dual-fueled trucks have a range in excess of 1,000 kilometres and average more than 60% substitution, delivering the expected financial and environmental benefits.
Prior to the Renault order, Ham started with a Mercedes Axor Euro 3 Genesis EDGE Dual-Fuel in 2007 and, following the success of that, ordered 10 Volvo FM 13 Genesis EDGE Dual-Fuel (Euro 5).
“This is a significant order for Clean Air Power,” said Pettitt. “Clean Air Power’s progress, together with the increasing recognition of natural gas as a road fuel among major manufacturers and global fuel providers, is very encouraging.”
These new systems will be delivered to the customer during 2012.
