Japanese shipbuilder Japan Marine United Co., Ltd. (JMU) and Polish Aluship Technology Sp. Z oo, a shipbuilder specialising in aluminium fabrication, have entered into a cooperative agreement on the manufacture and sale of SPB ® systems (Self-supporting Prismatic shape IMO type-B), a proprietary technology aimed at customers in Europe where LNG has an established and growing market.
The partners will study the European market, seeking to entice interest from the LNG fuel and LNG supply markets, envisaging opportunity in the developing LNG marine fuel industry.
The SPB ® system has a high degree of freedom of tank shape, no limit to volume and “no sloshing”.
